Motor Insurance
1What is the difference between comprehensive and third-party motor insurance?
Comprehensive cover protects your own vehicle (damage, theft, fire) as well as third parties. Third-party only covers injury and damage to others — your own vehicle is not covered.
2What documents do I need to make a motor insurance claim?
You will need the original Police Abstract Report, a copy of the driver's valid licence, a completed Motor Accident/Theft Claim Form, and the applicable policy excess payment.
3Does my motor insurance cover me when driving in Uganda or Tanzania?
Yes — our comprehensive motor policies cover the East Africa region for own damage and liability. However, third-party liabilities outside Kenya are excluded unless you have a COMESA Yellow Card.
Property Insurance
1What is Fire & Special Perils insurance and do I need it?
Fire & Special Perils covers your property against fire, lightning, explosion, earthquake, riot, and related causes. If you own or lease commercial premises or residential property, this cover is strongly recommended.
2What is Business Interruption insurance?
Also called Consequential Loss insurance, it covers the loss of income and increased operating costs if your business is forced to stop or reduce operations due to an insured fire or property event.
Employee Benefits
1Is WIBA insurance mandatory for employers in Kenya?
Yes. The Work Injury Benefits Act (Chapter 13 of 2007) requires employers to compensate workers injured in the course of employment. A WIBA insurance policy fulfils this statutory obligation.
2What is the difference between WIBA and Group Personal Accident insurance?
WIBA covers work-related injuries only. Group Personal Accident (GPA) extends cover to 24 hours a day — including accidents outside of work. Many employers take a combined WIBA + GPA policy.
